The newly revamped ReadingFilmFEST is expected to make tsunami waves this coming November with a new director, Tracy Schott and brand new look. The Reading Film Commission subcontracted the work to RAD design to give the old Reading Film Fest a much needed facelift! Together, Tracy and I worked together to develop a bold new logo that would symbolize the city of Reading. I am honestly tired of seeing the iconic pagoda symbolized everywhere in Reading but I knew it was needed to be incorporated into the logo. Hollywood has its famous Chinese Theater and Hollywood sign; San Fransisco has its Golden Gate Bridge; New York has the Chrysler Building. As much as I hated to admit it, the Reading Pagoda is our own Hollywood sign. People from around the world who come to visit Reading instantly notice the Japanese architecture oddly sitting atop Mount Penn. This is our trademark. This is our history and we should embrace it.
So once I convinced myself to use the pagoda within the logo, I had to convince Tracy of it as well. Once I got her on board with incorporating our ‘Hollywood Sign’ in the logo, it was time to brainstorm. I drew lots and lots of abstracted pagodas until we came to an agreement. The final logo features red and black, blocked text and a 2D stylized pagoda ‘housed’ over the vertical word ‘Reading.’
Now that the logo was finished, we needed a bold new website to match the bold new logo. I utilized WordPress again to make it easy for the client to make weekly updates on the website. I customized a theme which features large cover images at the top of each page to capture the user’s attention and an easy-to-use navigation bar. I just hope that Reading is ready for this brand new film fest that is headed their way!
Recently I had the pleasure of working on a film documentary designing the type treatment and infographics for on screen. The film, Finding Jenn’s Voice, has been a 3-year passion project in the making produced by Schott Productions and funded by countless companies and individuals. Having worked on film with Schott Productions in the past, this was my first graphic design project for a film. Tracy Schott came to me in need of assistance in designing a cohesive look for all the on-screen text treatment which included lower thirds, infographics, block quotes and credits. I was super excited to be apart of the project.
Back in June, I was asked to design the t-shirts for the first annual Fashionista 5k Run for Laney’s Legacy of Hope. I was delighted to be apart of this historical event since I knew the family and actually grew up with Laney’s father. Delaney Brown was a beautiful, cheerful little girl who’s life tragically ended too soon when she was diagnosed with a rare form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She valiantly fought a 7-month battle but succumbed to the disease on Christmas morning 2013, five days after her eighth birthday.
Laney’s favorite things included anything zebra, pink and purple! And so I created a fun, spirited design that captured Laney’s personal style. I am truly honored to have contributed to this wonderful cause!
Once again I was delighted to work with Chery Nash again for her Spring 2012 line. Her new spring line was full of color, bright patterns and lots of fun. Creating her spring catalog was a breath of fresh air. I created whimsical catalog spreads to compliment the breeziness of her spring clothing line. As a result the 64-page catalog reads more like a book of art than a plain line sheet.
I had the opportunity to work with Cheryl Nash in working on promotional materials for her Fall 2011 clothing line. I even got to go to the photoshoot in Philly and help direct the shots. Luckily I got home before the big snow storm hit!
Cheryl Nash came to me in need of a trendy makeover for their bi-yearly clothing catalog. She wanted an updated look. Something fresh! The new look of the catalog received a positive and excited response from the buyers. I will be looking forward to working with her again in the fall for the Spring 2012 line.

In other news, Flirty Fitness is being rebranded as Flirtastic Fitness. I revamped the logo and website. And now comes the fun part of rebranding all the social media sites associated with Flirty Fitness. I welcome the challenge!
Reading Junior Academy celebrated its 60th Year Anniversary and Reunion last weekend and I was asked to design the large banners for the exciting event.
